Bald Mountain Recreation Area consists of 4,637 rolling acres. The picturesque park area has some of the steepest hills and most rugged terrain in southeastern Michigan.

Civic Center Park

Hours: 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Come over and play on our cool new ADA accessible playground complete with a Dragon slide. Join a sports league and utilize the park's 7 soccer fields and 4 baseball/softball fields. We also have a sand volleyball court and 2 basketball courts. Picnic areas and grills are available for a summer get together. The park also has a walking path and a nature trail, perfect for a morning or evening jog.

Friendship Park

Hours: 8:00 AM to Dusk. Get together with family and friends at this 137-acre park. There is a majestic play structure, 2 soccer fields, 4 baseball/softball fields, a walking path and open space.




Gingell Nature Area

This 40-acre wetland area is currently undeveloped. Future plans include adding an observations deck and trails for viewing wildlife.

Paint Creek Trailways Commission

The trail follows Paint Creek as it meanders through fields, woodlands, hills and marshes. You can enjoy a quiet look at nature and scenic open space along the trail. The trail is built on a smooth and gentle grade of former railroad. It is a place for traveling without motors, away from busy roads.

That is why the Polly Ann Trail is so important. It offers us the opportunity to see firsthand Oakland County's rural beauty while hiking, biking, cross-country skiing or riding horseback. Safety Path Advisory Committee

Safety paths in Orion Township are under the jurisdiction of the Parks & Recreation Department. Recommendations about safety path issues, concerning location, construction, maintenance, etc., are made by the Safety Path Advisory Committee, which meets the second Thursday of the month at 7:15 p.m. at the Township Hall. The committee is assisted by the Parks & Recreation Director and the Township engineering consultants. Members are appointed for three-year terms by the Township Board. Anyone interested in serving on this very important volunteer committee should send a letter of interest, in care of the Township Clerk, to: Charter Township of Orion, 2525 Joslyn Rd., Lake Orion MI 48360.




Webber Elementary Nature Trail

The 40 acre wooded site next to Webber Elementary School has been used for nature programs for years. A nature center structure will be built where Lake Orion students can participate in hands-on Environmental/Science processing skills and lab experiments.
